  • Ok, so, from actually reading the article:

Assuming this actually happened, and fucking why not, modern insane rightwing idiot podcaster in charge of the FBI goes to ‘seasoned’ insane rightwing idiot podcaster/radiohost/guy who runs right wing propoganda media company…

Beck claimed to have “split antifa up into three different categories: street groups and soldiers, support groups, and funding sources.” He said that the first category had caused “carnage,” but that any investigation into antifa must go further.

Among antifa “support groups,” Beck included the National Lawyers Guild, which he identified as the “legal arm for antifa” because its members monitor the law enforcement response to protests for abuses, and the Community Justice Exchange, which he criticized for “bailing people out” in 2020 during the “George Floyd riots.”

Based on those extraordinarily tenuous claims linking the National Lawyers Guild and Community Justice Exchange to antifa, Beck went on to identify organizations that fund those two groups as antifa “funding sources.” Those included Beck’s old enemy the Tides Foundation for having a relationship with the Community Justice Exchange; the Alliance for Global Justice, in large part for giving the National Lawyers Guild “over a million dollars from 2018 to 2019 alone”; and Soros’ Open Society Foundations on the grounds that it funded the Alliance for Global Justice.

Beck also listed the Fidelity Investments Charitable Gift Fund and Schwab Charitable Fund. These are both donor-advised funds that allow individuals to donate their own money to charities using an online portal managed by a financial institution — though Beck suggested that the financial institutions themselves were financing antifa in some way, saying, “If I had my money in Schwab or Fidelity, I don’t know if I would have it. They’re giving to the people who are supporting these people.”

Beck further listed crowdfunding platforms including ActBlue, Patreon, and others, but he did not indicate the channels by which money had moved through those platforms or to whom.

Ok, so what this means is that any company that has directly funded or has facilitated the movement of funds to basically any big D Democrat campaign, any kind of political organizing campaign to the left of Marjorie Taylor Greene, any kind of liberal to left wing activist group of any kind…

That, that is what these people apparently mean when they say ‘antifa’.

I… kind of really doubt any actual, explicitly self-labelled as ‘antifa’ groups even… have funds or a formal accounting of funds…

So ok yeah, yeah, this is the financial/legal version of outlawing all but the Republican party.

Any resistance to them, of any kind, any money for any of that is apparently ‘antifa terrorism’.

So, yep, we are now at the fascism stage where disagreeing with the ruling party is terrorism.

Yep, that tracks with the trajectory of what other historical fascists do once they hold formal institutional power.

    Uh, have fun everyone!

    Oh, these days?

    Nothing.

I tinker around with making a video game, lots of code in that, but no one will pay me even half of what I’m worth, as either a software engineer or db admin or data analyst (or all 3 of those at the same time), and the tech industry’s idea of a hiring process is an actual sadistic joke, invented by morons, run by idiots.

The tech industry is largely imploding because most of the competent people have been gaslit and forced out by abusive idiots with MBAs who do not know how to code and have now convinced themselves that if they convert the entire economy into destroying the world with AI datacenters, in an effort to make code that can code itself, well then they win, somehow.

  • Microsoft:

    Your computer?

    No.

    Our computer.

That you pay for the hardware for, that you pay regular rent to use in any way, that we use for anything we want, at any time, that must be always online to function.

    Innovation.

    EDIT:

I’ve said it before, Windows is going to end up as a Corpo ONLY OS, for orgs and people who cannot escape their vendor lock-in trap.

No sane, moderately knowledgeable/informed person would willingly choose to start with a home or business setup oriented around Windows, unless there truly is something that only works on Windows that they for some reason need and cannot use an alternative.

Their entire business model is complex, opaque cost shifting and ‘gradual’ enshittification within their rent-based ecosystem lock-in.

GTFO as soon as you can, as a person or business or whatever, this will only keep getting worse.

  • idk, its kind of variable because i truly just do not give a fuck at this point, but my breakfast may be one of the following:

nothing, just not hungry that morning

some kind of soup + toast

small 2-3 egg scramble w/potato, bell peppers, bit of cheese, bit of some kind of meat

    ramen w/chicken and veggies

… throw on a small apple or handful of grapes, maybe a small salad (no dressing) or handful of baby carrots, maybe a small muffin onto any of those if i am more hungry than usual and/or trying to make that meal hit more food groups and be a bit more well rounded.

  • “Fluoride disconnects one from God,” a listener with the username “Peter & Melissa BioHacking Stem Cells” wrote during one call. As part of his agenda, Kennedy has directed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to review the use of fluoride supplementation in water supplies.

Ok, yep, this is the kind of insane, nutjob “Christianity” I grew up in and around.

These actual lunatic people just make up their minds that… something they don’t like, for reasons that they know are nonsense, it just gives them an ‘ick’ for some reason… yep, its just haram now, its demons, because God told me personally when I prayed about it one day.

This is American Christianity, a gigantic ego trip for mentally ill people, and you’re an anti-religious bigot if you criticize their anti-logic, their fever dreams.

Oh how I wish that all 100 million Americans who believe Trump is part of God’s plan just actually had been raptured, I am so beyond tired of dealing with these people’s aggressive and hateful delusions.

    EDIT:

it is very funny to me that a year ago, on lemmy, i had liberal boomers tut-tuting at me when I would say things like “no, you don’t get it, roughly one third of America fundamentally thinks democracy is stupid and would prefer a theocracy with American state propoganda characteristics”, and then back that up with statistics.

Pshaw! What a ludicrous notion! The idea that you could suggest-

shhhhh its time to retire now, liberal boomer, retire from having agressively delusional opinions, shhhhh no you don’t get to actually retire, no, your house isn’t worth what you think it is, no, your investments aren’t going to be enough, shhhh its ok, your mindless self indulgence didn’t work out so well, just like we all told you it wouldn’t, shhhhh, its time for bed.

  • I mean ‘American Exceptionalism’ not as being literally true in any sense, I mean it in the actual Political Science / Sociological sense of attempting to differentiate various democracies and their behaviors from each other.

‘American Exceptionalism’ is … or was, basically our national ethos, a kind of shared, secular religion, a subtext that was basically always present, referred back to often, but not as often just directly stated.

We did, for quite a long time, just quite arrogantly think we were special, basically magically so, immune from or indifferent to many things that all societies have to grapple with.

So, now our core cultural identity has been revealed to be entirely bullshit, and as a result, basically everyone is having a psychotic break / existential crisis / nihlistic withdrawal …all the time.

But anyway, yes, I totally agree with you that in the 20th century, it really all does just boil down to not having our own territory being literally blown to oblivion in WW2, and then misinterpreting that obviously leading to roughly one generation of massively abnormal economic gains… as proof that we are just magically amazing, the ‘indespensible nation’ that was leading the world to the ‘end of history’, all that bullshit.

    EDIT:

As an addendum to that last paragraph…

The Boomers are the worst thing that has ever happened to this country, they lived in the literal best economic boom anywhere in the world, in the entire 20th century, at least if you simplify down to capitalist economies…

… and they think that was all them, and they had it tough actually.

No, they are the luckiest and most spoiled and delusional generation in American history.

And they continuously voted to destroy everything that underpinned their own opulence from possibly carrying forward onto other subsequent generatioms.

  • No.

    You are wrong.

    There are literally 0 upsides.

There are 0 medically valid reasons to fully or partially circumsize a penis that is not suffering from some kind of rather rare, actual congenital malformation.

The only things you list as upsides are aesthetic, fashion choices, they’re only ‘popular’ where you are … because they are common where you are.

It literally is a disfiguring injury.

It signifcantly changes how the thing looks, and works. Thats disfigurement.

No, it is not as severe as female clitoral removal.

But, the foreskin has a ton of nerve density in it, comparable to how many nerves your head/glans has in it, as opposed to the significantly lower nerve density on a cut shaft.

A circumcised XY male person literally is not physically capable of experiencing the same level and variation of sensation, of sexual pleasure, as an uncircumcised person.

It also removes the ability of the penis to ‘glide’ along the foreskin when inserted, which means it changes how it functions.

Automatic male circumcision at birth is literally a brutal, nonconsensual method of reducing the pleasure an XY man can experience from sex.

    Thats what it is.

Thats a cultural norm in the US, mainly, and not so much anywhere else.

    For the record:

Circumsized guy here, done at birth, then, I learned things.

The US is a brutal and delusion place by the standards of basically everywhere else.

We are the weird ones, we are the brainwashed ones.

We just happen to also make the most porn, and we invented the internet, so our cultural norms have had an outsized importance and level of influence.

Outside of the US, male circumcision is generally only done by fairly extreme religious groups, and for very rare but actually medically necesssary and valid reasons, like some kind of actual congenital abnormality/malformation of the penis that is present at birth.

  • Yep, we have now reached the point in the clownworld timeline where Marjorie Taylor Green, the Jewish Space Lasers lady who did campaign ads by just shooting a physical representation of ‘socialism’ with a 50 cal anti materiel rifle… this woman is seemingly a ‘moderate Republican’, a ‘voice of reason’ within the party, to use the mainstream political vernacular of roughly 10 years ago.

Go back 10 years, and if you told anyone that anything like this was even possible, much less probable, likely, you would be called insane.

And that’s not a hypothetical, because I did, and I was.

What that shows you is how immensely brainwashed and politically illiterate and/or disingenuous almost everyone, on all sides, was, institutional or citizen, political news junkie / official wonk or couldn’t care less.

  • The problem is realtime raytracing vs affordability.

    Pick one, basically.

If you make a game on an engine, or in a way where there’s no way to run the game without raytracing on, well, thats not gonna run well on an affordable system.

If you build a handheld that can do realtime raytracing, ok, you can play some more AAA games now, but your device cost to the consumer basically doubles.

We are currently in an economic depression in the US, you probably are not going to do well with a market strategy that relies on consumers generally having a lot of disposable income.

    Intelligent frame upscaling? Frame generation?

All bandaids to paper over realttime raytracing being immensely computationally expensive… and these ‘solutions’ just also require expensive, specialized hardware.

Also, bandaids for utterly incompetent AAA game dev management practices. Setting up good lighting systems without raytracing has always been possible, but it takes developer skill and a mamagement that can provide a stable development process, as opposed to schizophrenic, constantly massively changing development process.

Go look at TitanFall2 or MGSV, at Steam Deck resolution, and tell me you can notice a serious difference.

Maybe a bit, but its not worth doubling the cost of your gaming machine for.

  • Eh, 30 fps for a frenetic shooter like this is still pretty not great.

I can get a solid 45 fps on a Deck on Cyberpunk 2077, similar graphical fidelity imo, especially at a lower end output resolution as with a Deck.

The whole problem, from a ‘running on a Deck’ perspective, is that Doom Dark Ages is built on idTech 8… which forces raytracing.

They would have to refactor the whole game / build a whole new variant of the engine that based off the Vulkan-Base branch of idTech8, that has… you know, a lighting engine that can look at least comparable without relying on realtime raytracing.

Not just do some optimization tweaks.
