I figured most of them for the “religion is a useful tool to manipulate others” instead of actually believing in any sort of purity - other than rationalizing their shitty treatment of others.

He’s the way he is because of how they treated Rose. He’s almost guaranteed to be ADHD, maybe ASD too. The psychologists at the time didn’t really recognize it until the 1960s, and that wouldn’t mean widespread acceptance of the idea. Before that they called it something else entirely, and the common use of drugs like Ritalin and Adderall for ADHD didn’t happen until the ‘80s even though they existed far earlier.

So this dude was shipped off to boarding schools because he’s a “problem child” and a Kennedy. He was uncontrollable in schools, couldn’t stick to anything, got kicked out of boarding schools, and the only reason any of the schools put up with his shit at all was because he was a Kennedy. Got into drugs because that can happen to untreated ADHD people and people who have f’d up home lives. All this was swept under the rug by the Kennedys because they didn’t want the press to get wind of another Kennedy with “mental problems” and a drug problem. So he went untreated and unhelped. The worst thing that could happen to him was that he was born a Kennedy.

Conservatives have taken up everything they claimed to hate 25 years ago. Go bomb dictators because the dictators are oppressive? Now they want their own dictator. Talk about how women and other segments of society in that country are oppressed? Now they oppress women and other minorities. Hate government spending? Proceed to piss money away at levels never seen before. Rail against government interference in private business? Proceed to meddle with and claim they will tell businesses how to behave. Etc. etc.

I was “raised Christian.” The top reasons I despise religion is the a) hypocrisy from top to bottom, b) a person can go through life wrecking others others in ways that may be devastating, permanent, and/or traumatic that they have to live with forever and are supposed to just accept it like some mind of lesson from god, yet the person who does all the damage gets to go to heaven if the ask for forgiveness in just the right way.

Yeah, the whole “love each other and forgive everything” lessons of my youth have been replaced by “fuck you, I’m getting mine” christians.

E: also, the victim complex. Constantly fuck with other people, try to force your religious rules and views on them, and then when criticized or those people otherwise defend themselves or their position: “You’re attacking me! You’re attacking our faith! You won’t let us practice our religion!”

American regular grocery store brands of chocolate are horrible. Hershey’s and all the rest. Of course it’s the cheapest ingredients drowned in sugar to cover the otherwise poor taste. Cadbury’s now tastes waxy to me. Used to be pretty good. All in the name of profit.

Aldi in the US actually has really decent chocolate, their Choceur label for milk chocolate is quite good. Good luck finding it, I think the tariffs killed the availability, haven’t seen any for weeks.
