Gitlab and Nextcloud broke (cuz I ctrl+c’d the pacman hooks, oops), but some manual DB upgrades and rebooting fixed that. However, I can’t login into my synapse from anywhere, and can only use it with existing sessions for some reason.

I program out of my own need, and if something/a project catches me, it really catches me (ADD). So for a large part, it’s customizing software and scripting for my server (selfhosting and hosting others).

As for larger projects, rn I’m managing a middle-sized but fucked up old django webapp, and rewriting it.

Mostly, it’s actually writing code (primarily python), including reading docs/tutorials and adapting that to how I actually need it, in my head, and integrating that into the codebase.

At work, it’s the fixing of small stuff in Java Spring. And that certainly does not catch me at all.

Knowing the level of quality with which proprietary software is written, especially extremely security sensitive software from the chinese region, you’re out of luck.

There are probably dozens of RCEs and backdoors already in place, but as the target of those exploits are idiots who actually know nothing about computers, nobody noticed.

Hell, IT’S POSSIBLE TO REMOTELY TAKE OVER A RECENT ANDROID WITH ZERO USER CLICKS. Someone definitely has exploits against "anti"cheats. We know how easy it actually is.

Mostly fixing stuff, of which there is a lot after moving servers (from a Debian 8 host to a Debian 13 VM with Debian 8 Repos, and different mail servers).

And yeah, Python 2 + Django 1.4 has many vulns, and mitigating them is a whole project.

We have a Python 2, Django 1.4.22 webapp, with no realistic way to port it to Python 3, so now the only viable option is a full rewrite. Which will take a lot of time.
