Excellent! I didn’t know those things, but it gives me even more confidence. Thank you.
(what I didn’t mention above is that yes, I actually did irrevocably ruin the motor in a blender, one time when I was trying to make some nut butter)

Well, I certainly hope so.
Yeah, I get you on that stuff. If it helps, when making hummus (oof, it’s been a while), I’ve found that adding oil or water helps with that kind of thing. And I happen to greatly prefer creamy hummus to thick, so…
Alternatively, what I’ve done, after manually removing as much as I can, is to add some water (doesn’t need to be too much) cover the container, and shake it all around. Then pour the result back in to your main hummus, mix, and Bob’s your avuncular figure. You should be able to get most of the goodness that way.
Last thing-- I do believe Vitamix makes a huge range of models, so I’d guess that there would likely be fat-bottomed models as well. (thanks, Freddy)
I dunno… I kinda like the idea of Parker (via shades of Jeff Goldbloom in “The Fly” maybe) developing an insatiable appetite for insects.
It would make for a fun, thorny, recurring issue at meal-time and all that. :D
This is something of a branch-off point, BUT-- if you envision doing any ‘hard grinding’ prep (like grinding nuts in to nut butter) or making fresh juice from fruits & veggies, well then, VITAMIX blenders have a pretty great reputation for being real workhorses. For that reason they’re pricey just as you’d expect, but can still be found used online, or in thrift stores, etc.
They also have strong, generous warranties as I understand it, being covered for up to 10yrs I think, with shipping costs covered both ways. I personally have my eye on them as someone who already has a couple juicers, but doesn’t like the idea of having leftover pulp. (plus, juicers can be a pain to clean on a regular basis) So for a Vitamix, the whole juice prep is done right in the single container, easy to clean afterwards, and if you still don’t want the pulp, you can strain it out.
Okay, there’s my dos centavos.
TBC, he’s a professor of Evolutionary Palaeobiology, so yes, a type of biologist.
As for the people ‘hoping’ that humans might one day evolve in to the sixth form of crab, he also points out that all five existing crabs developed from Decapods (10-legged arthropods). So humans already have a load of work to do simply getting to that starting line!

I really like his style and the theme of this series, but sometimes his humor can be flat, repetitive, and crude for no particularly good reason.
This one is just excellent… one of the best I’ve ever seen.
He’s a good artist… works in different styles when the mood takes 'im.
Some comics artists are in fact classically trained, which can be kind of mind-blowing to see, sometimes.
Sounds good, and I can totally see the usefulness and convenience there.
I take it that it works better for you than the onscreen phone keyboard, eh?
I wouldn’t mind the flood of spam, right-wing nonsense, and guesstimated content in the browsing streams quite so much if I at least there was a useful bias for seeing what people on my friends’ & subscribed lists were posting, but NOOoooo… (cue John Belushi)
At this point they’ve hilariously turned their own product in to something that doesn’t hold even the slightest bit of value for me, anymore. I really need to send Zuck a nice gift-basket of elephant dung for doing me that helpful favor. 😊
Slight shades of Dinner for Few:

Had the same thought here.
Very interesting though, to see him do something other than Strange Planet for once!
What’s spammy about it, if I may ask?
I didn’t realise keyboards of this type came so small, and the trackpad seems like a nice touch. So it was fun for me to see.
@DarkAri@lemmy.blahaj.zone,
That said, there’s almost no way this would be useful for me, unless it was an emergency or something. I have fairly thin fingers, and still, just typing on an 11"x4" mini-keyboard is a chore.
But in terms of space-savers, those 3-pc portable, folding keyboards seem like they would be pretty nice. Based on what I’m seeing, they’re ~15"x5" unfolded, and ~8.5" wide folded-up. Almost the size of a regular keyboard when in use.
Plus, I think I’d be vaguely worried about it being a kill-booth in disguise.
(i.e. not really worth the free quarter’s worth)
How did you escape your locker, Davy? (ba-dum-bump)
I don’t know much about the software side, but I’d venture that (as with some instances) not all of them are necessarily trying to put much energy in to growing their userbases. That is, some might be set up to meet the needs of a smallish group, and might not be particularly interested in outsiders joining. That’s just speculation though, purely extrapolated from the fact that some have set up their instances across the “FV” for that kind of purpose.
In other cases, I take it that such services are only federating to a limited portion of the FV, and that may indeed be a problem worth fixing sooner rather than later. For example, the four biggest user-bases by software (M, misskey, nodeBB and sharkey) don’t seem to federate well, or at all, to the ‘Lemmy’ side of the FV. At least IME, and in terms of the network I’m on (PieFed).
Well, considering that I already have a *kill it with fire* mentality towards anime… XD
But I’d miss Miyazaki, though. That would indeed be a bitter loss.

That’s just about the most ‘Jim Benton’ comic I’ve ever seen without actually being Jim Benton.
Mind sharing the model and price?
