If they can’t find violent criminals in Chicago, then they are looking in the wrong areas. The vast majority of Chicago is completely safe and pretty awesome. But let’s not pretend there aren’t violent parts of the city, it’s just that those dangerous areas don’t correlate to areas with high rates of undocumented immigrants.

I look at all the insane shit that has happened in just over 9 months and think about what things could still happen in the 13 months before the midterm elections. I don’t have much hope that political momentum is going to matter.

Also, polling doesn’t mean everything, especially not this far away. Trump was losing the polls in two of his three elections. He won both of those times.

The Supreme Court already allowed politics-based gerrymandering, which was race-based by another name, so this won’t change things much more than that. But it will change what color the people are who get elected. They could change 2 majority R districts that are both mostly black into one majority white R district and one majority black R district.

Seriously. Just go into /r/conservative and look what “news” they are reading. It is all rage-bait stories about violence in the world caused by people of color or immigrants or leftists. There are no stories at all about the shutdown. I was flying home from vacation two days ago and could see the Fox News stories on a guy’s TV in front of me. It was all rage-bait with no actual news stories, not even fake news stories blaming Democrats for the shutdown.

I didn’t say anything about the enforcement of the rule or how dumb it was. I was only pointing out that it should not be a surprise to any green card holder that they need to be carrying it.
