The top 9 companies are tech companies, mostly AI slop (with the possible exception of Broadcom). Those top 9 companies are over 1/3 of the market cap of the S&P. And that doesn’t even count the AI slop companies that are smaller.

When AI crashes, it will give the S&P a 25% haircut… (But don’t necessarily sell! For all I know, it will all double before it takes that haircut.)

There a reason why the Constitution explicitly spells out the right to a trial by a jury of the accused’s peers, both in the document itself and the sixth amendment. It acts as an effective check on the government, because it helps to ensure the government can’t just jail people because it wants to.

Also, I’ve never been in the military, but I imagine they have extremely strict policies against active duty members (particularly officers) criticizing the administration in public. This guy probably had to quit first if he wanted to say what he said publicly.

I hope it has an effect on current active-duty troops when they get their illegal orders.

The Supreme Court has already ruled that the President does not need to follow the law as part of his Official Duties. The only check on a law-breaking President is Impeachment.

So, the Administration will keep ignoring Congress as long as Republicans shield him from the consequences of that.

States run the election system here, and the new Congress cannot be seated unless there is an election. There will, in fact, be elections.

The only question will be how ratfucked they will be. The recent emphasis on redistricting proves that they expect elections to happen, but they want to ratfuck the districts to gain more seats than the votes normally entitle them to.

With regards to illegal military deployments, I expect that there will be “special enforcement operations” in areas that couldnt be specifically ratfucked enough, which will conveniently target citizens in certain demographics, and aim to suppress turnout there, leaving other areas with “better” demographics alone.

See? Elections on schedule, as the Constitution calls for, with the results that the fascists call for.
