That’s very true, however the person you were replying to was talking about people making the choice to take out a 20,000 dollar loan on a car.

I’m not sure how a $2000 car could result in a $20,000 to $50,000 loan.
I don’t think I have read anything less true. I own 5 cars, 4 of which I bought post covid. The most expensive one was 5100, and it’s a bloody sports car.

My parents took my sister and I to China, Hawaii, Europe, as well as other vacations when I was like 10-14 or something. I knew it wasn’t normal when we were doing it, like my friends families weren’t doing this, but I didn’t realize how unusual it was until much later. I definitely respect them for not leaving us, the kids, out of it, and teaching us how to travel, but man it’s crazy to spend that much money on a kid that’ll only remember a fraction of the trip at best.
Tangentially, speaking of memory - in China specifically, I remember being kinda swarmed by locals taking selfies with us, as my sister and I were two blond white kids, which isn’t an everyday sight there. I still wonder if we’re in any photo albums.
I’ve got no idea about the courses, as this was my first job out of college. They trained me on the job to be familiar with their testing framework. At my company it’s seemingly been pretty stable with good WLB, but I feel like that depends more on the company, as that’s also true for the SEs here.
I might just be in a fortunate poison in my company, as my actual title is Software Engineer in Test, so my actual job is writing automated tests. I spend a lot of my time on testing framework, rather than the tests themselves, but also am sometimes tasked with automating repetitive tasks. If I notice something repetitive, I’m usually allowed to just automate it. So I guess my advice would be to find a job as an SDET or SET and get lucky, but that probably isn’t terribly good advice haha.
I really wish he’d changed the title to something like “Bootleg DVDs Are Cheapened In a Weird Way” or something to make it more obvious that this was the case. I had no idea that this was what had happened (though I had wondered while watching the video) until I saw a thread about the video.
I’m American and haven’t the foggiest. She realizes something in the third panel, but I’m not sure what that is.
Really interesting to hear a different story. I’m running Kubuntu, but have been trying to find an excuse to use Bazzite. Maybe I’ll keep searching for that excuse for a bit longer.
My partner tried popos and it was awful. Iirc, it didn’t even seem to support her multiple monitors? I can’t remember for sure, but we had some issues and bailed pretty quickly. She and I both are now rocking Kubuntu, which, as you mentioned, was a much easier transition from Windows for her (and me), though I’d have her try bazzite today if Kubuntu wasn’t already set up.
I think I have selective blindness involving chores. I genuinely won’t notice something until it NEEDS to be done.
How long ago was that? I’m an Automation Software Engineer and I feel like I could automate that in an afternoon. Stuff like that grinds my gears.
I just said I use Linux, I am aware. There were a couple of games I played that had shitty incompatible anticheat, GTAO and The Crew 2. There are a lot of good games out there, I can live without.
When I switched a while back I somehow got my partner to switch with me. We’ve both been using Kubuntu. I had her try popos, and it was flippin terrible with her multiple monitors, and unfamiliar. If Kubuntu wasn’t already set up, I’d totally have her try Bazzite.
As a resident of the west coast I was confused for a good 2 seconds about what my state had to do with this data.

Is this where I brag about using Linux and therefor being superior?
Honestly, I never and still don’t entirely understand people’s clingy-ness to old OSs. I was happily using Windows 8.1, 10, 11 (less happily), (and now Kubuntu brag successful), while apparently many were clinging to Windows 7. Maybe it’s because I try to be more open to change, or maybe it’s because I just like new and shiny software, but rarely do I cling to old software. The newer versions of windows were the new shiny thing with additional features (some useful, and some annoying), and now Linux is that new shiny thing with a lot of useful features and some annoying things.
P.S. I’m not sure if peertube supports timestamped links (it probably does, it’s friggin peertube), but this would’ve been a time to use that feature, as the relevant part to the title doesn’t begin until 1:48.
…yeah? I’m not sure where the disconnect is here, you mentioned doing this above for 1/10th the price of a cheap new car. I’m also not sure why you assume a used vehicle will need immediate financial contribution to make it get you from point A to B. Used cars are usually sold running and driving.
