To be fair, the machine doesn’t sell fried chicken, so the Sunday hours really are the stupidest part of this machine.
It sells a grilled chicken wrap, a veggie wrap, and two types of potato chips. Not too bad for hospital cafeteria food.

Exactly. It’s a simple unifying message.
The first round of protests suffered from what many protests on the left suffer from. It was tens of thousand of people with their own message. The signs and the speakers were all trying to cover abortion, billionaires, voting rights, Palestine, schools, healthcare, unions, immigration, corruption, the environment, judges, etc.
People had good intentions, but the unifying message needs to succinct and easy to understand if you want to cut through all the noise.

They’re not needed on Lemmy. We just see the replies in our inbox. We don’t need to be mentioned in the reply. That’s like knocking on the door and ringing the doorbell at the same time.

All these comments are telling him to stay and fight, but they’re ignoring that could be devastating to his family.
He’s over the 20 year mark and can retire. If he stays and gets a dishonorable discharge, his family gets none of his retirement, no medical, and a family member with financial mobility akin to a felon.
What would you do in that situation?
I don’t think I’d be willing to put my family through that. We don’t have enough in the bank to take a blow like that. I’d probably do what he did. Try to fight another way.
He’s been there long enough for retirement. If he fought Trump he’d be dishonorably discharged and lose all retirement pay, all medical benefits, and you’ll have a record that is equivalent to having a felony.
By quitting now he’s ensuring the welfare of his family.
Drive through New Mexico and it will become abundantly clear. There are only around 2 million people in the entire state. Half of the people live in 3 counties, and a lot of rest of the state is a whole lotta nothing, dying or dead towns, and single trailers separated by miles.
