Looks like it’s time to take one of those two car lanes and make two more bike lanes. The bike lanes are obviously getting much more throughput, it’s the efficient answer!

The cycleways in the center of Munich along river Isar are also becoming quite crowded.

But know what? That’s life. We solve a nasty problem, and get a nicer problem or challenge in turn.

Cyclist seeing bike traffic: “You love to see it!”

Motorist seeing car traffic: “I will murder anyone in my path to save 5 seconds”

Great seeing so many people use the infrastructure!

This would drive me insane though as everyone seems to be going pretty slow and it’s too congested to go around them

That’s the thing, this is seen as prioritizing bikes, yet the cars still have at least twice as much road space as the bikes despite visibly moving fewer people. The result is that the cyclists are made to feel like they’re in a motorist traffic jam. And if a street wants to accommodate cars at all, they have to give up that much width because cars are so big.

This bicycle path was made at the beginning of Paris’s transformation, so by today’s standards and usage it’s pretty outdated, and leads to a lot of conflicts with pedestrians because there is so much bike trafic yet there are no traffic lights for bikes.
