We had one counter-protester show up with a big flag and an “I love Trump” t-shirt. He stood facing a group of people and tried to look intimidating. It didn’t work. People were mostly laughing at him. Meanwhile the cars going by were constantly honking and waving. It honestly looked like he was there in support unless you could see his shirt which nobody driving by could.

And also, now they might start arresting protesters on suspicion of being cartel hitters or some such bullshit.

It consisted of suing the federal government and getting an injunction from a judge saying they can’t be deployed. They are there. Legally they aren’t supposed to be doing anything. Beyond that, I’m not sure what you want the governor to do. Rally his own private militia to fight them off? If he did that it would literally justify their presence there and eliminate any legal restrictions.

Advice for any undocumented immigrants who are trying to work their way through the legal system to get asylum: Don’t go to your court dates.

Yeah, that’s illegal and this might cause ICE to come looking for you. But if you go into court, the judge will likely dismiss your case, at which point you WILL be arrested on site and deported as quickly as they can manage it. Federal immigration judges have been instructed to dismiss ALL asylum claims, regardless of merit.

The really infuriating part here is that they’re making up the same sort of bogus claims about hundreds of protesters. This woman gets let go (for now) only because she’s a journalist and it’s getting a lot more attention.

One of our cats has a really unhealthy obsession with ribbon. The sort used in gift-wrapping or for party balloons. If anyone happens to leave a piece of ribbon lying around she will absolutely find it and try to eat it. More than once this has resulted in massive vomiting and/or diarrhea.
