I’m going to be delivering an online intro to programming session to a non-technical crowd who will be “following along at home”. Because it’s online, I can’t provide them with machines that are already set up with an appropriate development environment.
Off the coast of Peru are a group of islands which are home to many bird species. Every few years, a group of Peruvians go to the islands and harvest the guano for agricultural use. They collect millions of tons of it using shovels and sacks.

And I might add maybe not the happiest people either. They could have everything they want yet they don’t always seem all that happy. Elon Musk for example doesn’t seem much happier than the average person, maybe even less so (depends on who you’re comparing against of course).
I saw an ad for The Register website on Reddit, since then I stopped really being dependent on them and trusting them and to some extent I started thinking more before sharing their articles.
Since we’re re-taking the shit, I figured we should have a more efficient way to communicate. However, my brain is as smooth as a fresh burrito excretion and I gave up after 5 minutes. Maybe you all wouldn’t mind dumping some more ideas?
I think the power imbalances in society in some way stem from a desire to fill a void of self worth. Complete people connect: empty people consume and consolidate power. Billionaires and dictators can never have enough because they can never be enough.
I know people out there who have invested a lot in gold under the belief that in the event of like complete societal collapse or hyperinflation, they could use it for purchasing.
