I’m a big fan of the original, and so my opinion is skewed, but the Netflix show seemed to take all the love and care for the worldbuilding, the thought and time put into the characters, and the intricacy and pacing for the plot… and just throw that shit in a blender, add some thematically antithetical violence and a shit-ton of unnecessary CGI, and crap out a super polished, extra-stinky turd.
There is no live action in ba sing se. The live action adoptions are terrible by contrast

Season 1 of this is not as good as season 1 of the original cartoon. But for someone not familiar with the cartoon, it’s certainly enjoyable. Similar to Netflix’ One Piece adaption.

Is that supposed to be a 12 year old. Motherfucker looks old enough to vote.
Wait wait, there was a season 1? As someone that loved the OG, is that worth watching?
It’s not that bad. But I don’t see a reason for it to exist.
I wasn’t able to articulate how I felt about this adaptation accurately until this.
My understanding is folks were whelmed. Some under.
I’d watch it without anyone else’s opinion on your mind first tho.
I’m not going to waste my time on it if it’s an absolute trash fire like the movie, is the thing. Sounds like it definitely wasn’t that bad, though, so I’ll give it a go.
They’re making a season 2, so it can’t be too bad
Oh, how I wish “they’re making a new season” was a reliable mark of quality…
It’s fine. It just doesn’t need to exist is all.
It was too short, which caused a few problems, but otherwise I thought it was solid.
I had to check my records to confirm I did in fact watch the first season because I had NO recollection what-so-ever.
It’s about as engaging as reading the Wikipedia synopsis…
The addition of the backstory on Zuko’s crew was a very nice touch. Cautiously optimistic on season two.
More Avatar: TLA stuff comes out. The more I think we are so lucky the original show was so good. Very thing after it sucked.
EDIT The further away you get from A:TLA. The more things start to suck.
